2024-25 After-School Program Registration is OPEN!

We now serve students at both Leonard Flynn Elementary and Dolores Huerta Elementary:

  • Flynn Elementary Students at our James Rolph Jr Park Clubhouse (1451 Hampshire St)
  • Dolores Huerta Students at our Bernal Heights Clubhouse (3361 Mission St)

Our mission is to support and inspire children’s natural curiosity and independence through free play during their out-of-school time.

We envision vibrant communities that support the social emotional growth of all children through friendship and play.

Mariposa Kids is all about PLAY! Children spend their days at our clubhouses developing social emotional skills and creating friendships while strengthening existing friendships through time for unstructured play. Our programs are carefully crafted with curriculum and themes that provide opportunities for children to partake in engaging activities that develop teamworking skills, explore their curiosity, build leadership, and so much more. With an average of 50% of their day spent outside, Mariposa Kids ensures children are gaining the vast benefits of outdoor play in local parks and playgrounds.

We know parents, and often even children, have grown accustomed to highly planned out days for children with bountiful activities flowing one after the other. At Mariposa Kids, we believe unstructured playtime allows for more creative and imaginative play for children, even providing opportunities to be bored here and there, as managing boredom is a crucial developmental skill for successful adulthood. MK provides the space for play, the elements for play, and the guidance of caring adults for safe play in a screen free environment every camp and school day.
